I remember as a young boy being sent across the road to buy my nans bottle of Guinness,no such thing as age limits back then in the 60's
-
My dad and uncle went there for a pint before Sunday roast dinner. Demolished to straighten the busy Mount Pleasant Road which is now blocked by parked cars anyway! To the right of the pub was a mesh fence and beneath it, a mystery pile of soot on the grass. The favourite dumping spot for chimney sweeps in the days before central heating.
Opposite the pub, on the corner of Priory Road was the 'Popcorn Factory'. A small burgundy-doored sweet manufacturers... I love the smell of popcorn in the morning, smells like.... childhood in the 60s.
