In 1860, a relative of mine lived at number 19. She was Juanita Smih, widow of the famous Sir Harry Smith, who had married her in Spain when she sought refuge from the soldiers after the battle of Badjedos. Ladysmith in South Africa, is named after her.
Together we can build a wonderful archive of Hastings photos from the past and present day so that future generations can enjoy them.
If you have any interesting local photos from the current day or dating back as far as Edwardian or Victorian times then we would love to feature them in our archive for display and preservation on this website. Please take time to read the Copyright Statement and then Submit Your Pictures.
