I use to live in the flats (now demolished) as a child in 1970s. In this aerial view I can see the place I lived with my Mum and 3 sisters. Thank you for your time in setting up this archive of Hastings. It brings back many memories.

I used to live at 16a The Cheviots, from 1966 to 1975. Our block was the top one just out of sight at the edge of the photo, but they all looked the same. Everything was clean and brand new when we moved in (I was just about six). There were no gardens, just a green hill behind us, you ran (or rolled) down as you cut through to the shops, the newsagents were a magical place to spend your thrupence, then sixpence pocket money/babysitting money (I was babysitting next door from eight). Lots of children and a big silver slide outside my best friend Jenny’s block right at the bottom with the steep hill in front. Lots of adventures and dens in the woods, where you could sit and read in peace. At first in the early years a van came round every Sunday to take us all to Sunday School. My mother never even noticed I was going till months later, I was nearly seven by then, but we were all out all day in the summer and at weekends. It always seemed to be sunny. Totally different times. Thank you for the photo and the memories.
