This is an interesting photo because there are rails in the street swinging off to the left (Old London Road??) but, according to all the books I have seen, the trams did not reach the Old Town (Fishmarket). Yet the track gauge appears to be the tramway 3ft 6in. Judging by the coach (right background) this could be either late 1930s or 1940s. I was a child o7 when my family moved to hastings and as a rail and tram nut, I am sure that I would have seen and remembered them.
Can anyone please enlighten me?
