on 25 Sep 2018 Linda said Our family home was in Newgate Road and as a child I could hear the thud of this pumping station. I found this so exciting. And often i would go down to the park and peep over the half door inside and watch this massive machine working. It was a magnificent sight. -

on 14 Aug 2021 Julie said My Great Grandfather ran the Pumping Station (approx 1910) and my grandmother and her brother grew up in the Park. The family name was Riddle. As a toddler I was taken to the half-door to look at the machinery, the wonderful smell of machine oil. That was in the 1950s - as previous poster says, Happy Memories.
