I remember the wooden ceiling to the chancel, as a choir boy, in 1950's, then as an apprentice carpenter for Hepple & Sweatman, who removed all the boarding due to rot and woodworm, replacing with insulation and Fibre board ,some major structural repairs were also done at the Time including tiles and roofing felt on the outside.

Great postcard. I have never seen one of the interior before.
I was married there in 1975 and as that was a blur I had no idea it was so ornate. Thanks for the image. I also found out some time ago that my 4 X grandparents were married there in 1839, after having had three children before they got around to it. Who said that living together is a bad start, they were together for some 60 years -
Lovely old picture. I was married there in 1969 went back in 1994 at our 25th but missed out on our 50th but still married today :)

I was a bridesmaid to my friend here in 1970. What fascinated me at the time, was the sight of an elderly gentleman working hard pumping the air into the organ by means of a long wooden handle.

I was at Hollington Park school from 1947 until 1955, we used to walk to the Church in the Wood about twice a term for a service, I remember one of the girls having to pump the organ while the music mistress played. Happy memories!
