When I was a child and before the Bourne main road was constructed this was the main road from the seafront/Old Town to Clive Vale and Ore/Rye. Can you imagine two way traffic in this road with busses and lorries scraping mirrors and mounting the kerb to get by. Used to travel on the No.27 double decker from the Memorial to the Kings Head for the princely sum of 2 old pence.

It's fascinating, I'm just exploring what was there before they built the Philip Cole Close in High St. I think it might have been an 'ood customs house'. Been trying to work it out by looking at old pictures. I'm pretty sure that you would know.

My late father was born in Hope Cottages in Ebenezer road , would love to find a photo of how the street looked My family surname is Kent my Dad was one of eleven children .
