Really nice image, I have number 6 in this judges series.

When I was six or so (1950) I was present at a lifeboat launching in heavy weather. It was outside the harbour arm, and many women and helpers were pushing the boat out across the beach. I have never forgotten seeing that to this day.

My mum, Annie Wood, was one of those ladies who used to grease the big wooden “trows” and place them in a line for the lifeboat to slide over down into the water
