on 30 Jan 2017 ColinL said The men with their hands on their hips seems strange given that by the 1940s-50s it often indicated a person being gay. The pose was relatively standard in formal portraits taken at the time. Values, fashions and social mores are forever developing and changing.
The display of the products looks enticing although margarine seems to be very prominent and the display of eggs somewhat precarious! -
on 29 Jan 2025 Susan tovey said You seem to be a bit of a idiot. It does not indicate anyone being gay, it indicates a good days work done and satisfaction. Margarine is the the only form of a buttery spread on their bread or for cooking with. I'm sure the eggs were safe enough. My grandad used to work for Maypole Dairy but not sure where.
