Hand coloured card. Date estimate given the tram will make in post 1905 and I suggest around 1920-25.
Geoff, the shop on the left behind the lamp post, looks as if the name is "Holman"

Ah yes, thanks Gerry. I was trying to track that shop location down for ages. Here's the close-up http://www.1066online.co.uk/gallery/old-photos/holman-and-sons-london-road

In the 1950's, Holman's was a thriving sweet shop, where I used to buy sweets on my way to and from the old Sandown school. I think they had a wholesale sweet operation next door. Susan Holman was in my class at Sandown. Tempus fugit!

My great great grandmother, Jane Holman started Holman and Sons confectionery shop in the mid 1800's. It was then passed down to her son (my great grandfather) Henry Guy Holman, who then passed it down to his son, Frederick Guy Holman (my grandfather) Fred's daughter is my aunt, Sue Holman (now Rochefort) My mother, Wendy Gardner (was Holman), Sue's sister, would love to see any more pictures of Holman and Sons confectionery shop or her any other stories, if anyone has any, please :)

I went to Hastings grammar School in the 1950's/60's and Johnie Holman from the sweet shop family was in my class. Really happy, pleasant little chap. I got on well with him.
