on 02 Jul 2021 Harriet said Wow, what happened to this palace? Rock fall or short sighted modernisation… We desperately need a working sewage system in Hastings and all over the UK. How can we continue to empty sewage overflow into sea and rivers? Why can’t we sort this out?

on 06 Sep 2026 Rob321 said As I understand it, the "sewage system" operated at that time was basically a pumping station that discharged raw sewage out into the sea, roughly parallel to the cliffs. So, whatever we have now, - despite it having very severe limitations - is better than what was there.
I can remember the sight and stench of the raw sewage, even in the 1970s (if I recall correctly).
