St Pauls School

I believe my dad went here while I went to the later incarnation myself.

I spent a year at this primary school in 1945/6, before going to the Grammar School. The Headmaster was a William Gray, who lived up Tower Road, and was an old friend of my father. He had a daughter who was a professional operatic singer called Joan Gray.

I remember Mrs Norcross telling us about this older St Pauls School in our Monday afternoon sessions with her while Mrs Hammond went out to teach the girls Netball. Rare photo, well done finding it!

I was a pupil at St Paul's School between 1974 and 1980. I remeber most of the teachers. Mrs Balmer. Mr Green. Mr Brooks. Mrs Wilson. Head Teacher Mr Norcross. In particular I wanted to find out what became of Mrs Spriggins. She sent my dad a wonderful bunch of flowers when my mother died and I often think about her. I was in her class too for a short time. If anybody has any information I would appreciate it. Adam.

I was at St Paul's I think at the end of the war, used to catch the trolley bus from down near the Claremont steps in Bohemia rd was terrified of a teacher I think her name was Mrs Moat or something similar, she was an older lady, they served lunches and milk, lots of beans ( navy beans) I lived at Cambridge gardens and my friend and I used to walk home through a wooded area, collect tadpoles and pick blue bells, I think the path went beside the old east sussex hospital, it was a long time ago, would welcome comments . arthurnovis@bigpond.com, I'm in Australia.
