on 09 Oct 2013 Gerry Glyde said It was supposed to be a land fit for heroes but for many particularly the injured it meant poverty, homeless and worklessness. The 100 years commemoration must not be used as a excuse for nationalism and jingoism. We must also remember the courageous people who having been on the front line could face no more and were executed for cowardice or desertion. Let us also remember the conscientious objectors who were villified for their beliefs and sent White Feathers by young ladies.
It was supposed to be a War to end all Wars. Yet the British will soon be pulling out of Afganistan where nearly have lost their lives.
