I am sure that in the middle of this crowd of people you will see Sherie crouch, Lin Wood and Maxine Bell serving up the Turret burgers.........

Well, maybe not. There were originally two matching turrets. The one in the photo got demolished when Priory Meadow shopping centre was built. The other one still exists and (as you say) sells rather tasty burgers :)

Between the two turrets were a set of grand looking wrought iron gates which were opened during the day to let the excursion and long distance coaches out. They used to park there and entered via an entrance at the rear. I remember travelling on a beautiful M&D cream coach on a day trip to Brighton about 55/56.

I set up and opened "The Turret" in Feb.1998 with absolutely nothing in it but just a large, great hole in the ground. The Smallest Venue...The Biggest Value. In the olden days aparently so I was told it was the entrance of a gentlemen's toilet. I even applied for the Guiness Book of Records for the smallest venue that sold food in such a small space. Sadly I lost to a small shack in Africa. It was the most challenging project i have ever undertaken????????
