I can remember walking through here to get to the pool in the 1970's, at least I think we did, it seems very familiar, I remember there was a drinks machine and my elder brother and I decided we would buy a nice refreshing drink to share with our bus fare and walk home to Hollington, but i thought our cup needed straightening and I moved it and 90% of the drink missed our cup, I think my brother drank the rest and didnt speak to me much on the trudge home.

Spent a lot of my childhood at these baths.....Ducklings....Hessa and as much swim time as I could get in....got all of my certificates and can remember the thrill of getting my 1/4 mile after charging up and down for what seemed ages with the school swimming class....Happy Days and very happy memories....the world was a very different place in the 1950's

I remember the same drinks machine Martin...1970s...loads of graffiti in the changing cubicles, all broken doors, the place was feeling old and tired. After it was closed as an ice rink and repurposed as a skate park, it was very very poorly inside, there are some very eerie pics available on the web page 24dayslater.
