Hastings What’s On Listings

List of events coming up in the Hastings area
There are a wide variety of local events taking place throughout the year. The listings below are published in association with datathistle.com and aim to help you decide where to go and what to see in Hastings & St Leonards.
The Listings:
- Oasiz
Oasiz are one of the UK’s most authentic tribute bands, a point proved in 2023 when a short clip of front man Steve, performing as Liam, went viral on social media with over half a million views. Many fans were convinced the clip was actually of Liam Gallagher himself, which led to the story being covered in the national press, as well as a high profile TV appearance later that year.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of (What’s the story) Morning Glory, Oasiz are embarking on a 2025 UK tour and this is your chance to see them in top form.
The setlist will pay homage to the most memorable parts of Oasis’ record breaking 2nd album and will also include all the big hitting career spanning anthems that you would associate with a greatest hits tour.

- Spike From Quireboys
Spike is the founder and front man of the Quireboys - one of the UK’s most enduring rock 'n' roll bands. A band that's been through different chapters and had different line-ups, but Spike is the constant throughout.
Song writer, singer and leader of a band with which he has now become synonymous.
With lifelong friend Guy Bailey, Spike penned the benchmark Quireboys songs - such as Hey You, I Don't Love You Any More and 7 O'Clock - tracks which have defined the band musically for decades and, to this day, remain the hallmark songs of any Quireboys show.
With the Quireboys inactive as a live act due to the pandemic, Spike booked some low-key acoustic shows to tour his Late Night Song Book album. He was one of the first acts, if not the first act back with live music as lockdown eased in the summer of 2021. It was the perfect setting to encourage people back to grassroots venues - low key, socially-distanced shows, evenings of music and storytelling.
These intimate shows have continued to prove very popular and remain one of Spike’s favourite performance showpieces. Even though the newly re-formed Quireboys continue to sell out larger venues he is very much at home with his acoustic guitar, accompanied by Chris Heilmann.
2026 will be another busy year year for Spike that will see him playing across Europe and the USA but you know that he will be back in the UK performing his unique ‘solo’ shows to the fans old and new.

- Murder Trial Tonight
Tigerslane Studios, renowned for its captivating true-crime productions, is thrilled to announce the launch of the new season of ‘Murder Trial Tonight – The Doorstep Case.’ A West-End production touring the UK & Ireland with glowing 5-star reviews.
This unique theatrical experience brings true-crime stories to life. In the third season, a mother returns home in the early hours of the morning after a night out celebrating her birthday, only to find her daughter murdered on her doorstep. The boyfriend of the daughter has been charged with the murder. Is he guilty, or is the killer still at large?
The story begins on screen, giving the audience the backdrop and opening to the true-crime story. Then, the action moves to the stage for a live murder trial, immersing the audience in a fast-paced courtroom experience. As members of the jury, the audience plays a crucial role in this thrilling murder mystery. Both the prosecution and defence present their cases, cross-examine witnesses, and at the end of the show, the audience deliberates and delivers their verdict: guilty or not guilty.
The production then returns to the screen where it is revealed what really happened in the true case. Question is – did you deliver the correct verdict?

- Peatbog Faeries
The Isle of Skye’s Peatbog Faeries are the outstanding act in Celtic dance music, undisputed trailblazers in their field. Their music is high octane stuff, not for the fainthearted: pipes, flutes and fiddle swirl in a blizzard of electronic beats and hypnotic instrumental workouts. Several times a year they burst out from Skye at full throttle, electrifying audiences and festival stages wherever they go, whether in the UK or across the world, before retreating to the island to recover and brew up yet more instrumental wizardry.
29 Oct at The White Rock Theatre, Hastings
- Ardal O'Hanlon - Not Himself
Oh, it’s all there! All the trademarks are in evidence in Ardal’s latest show. Beautifully crafted stand-up comedy? Yes. Celebrated use of language? Tick. Lateral thinking, surreal flourishes, sharp observations? Of course. As for the occasional profundity? Maybe.
Despite his best attempts over many decades to put the world to rights, it is still a colossal mess. And so, Ardal has no choice but to go out on the road again. Like the good comedy doctor he is, he fearlessly diagnoses the various pathologies and neuroses that are currently ravaging humanity. Disclaimer: No solutions provided.
After an alarming experience at the supermarket, Ardal reflects on who he is as a man and a comedian. He examines his own ethnic and religious background, and thinks twice about the very core of his identity as a voice of reason. Is everything a big lie? With no major trauma of his own to draw on for material, apart from the drag of getting older, he also turns his gaze outwards at the joys and follies of contemporary life. Towel Animals? A.I.? Chair Yoga? Cauliflower as a main course? Yes. Yes. Yes. And Yes. No current idiocy is left unexamined.
With a highly developed sense of the ridiculous, and proper comedy bones, NOT HIMSELF, is a testament to the healing power of humour. And the joy of jokes.

- This House We Built
The real bricks and mortar of the band are a heady mix of bands from Englands Scarborough Strip (think Sunset Strip but with less debauchery, more chips and an untapped resource of talent since five Little Angels flew big in 88). Players Scott Wardell (vocals guitar), Andy Jackson (guitars vocals), Chris Mayes (drums vocals) and Wayne Dowkes White (bass) finally came together just prior to the world shutting down in 2020. Rather than dwell on not being able to bring their collective talents to the stage, they started the socially distanced writing sessions that bought the plot for the house they were about to build. Each man brought a different musical path to the band, and you can hear them all as the album unfolds. Eclectic influences ranging from classic rock, funk, emo, nu-metal and melodic rock are mixed perfectly across the ten songs and brick by harmony laden brick they build a unique sound that transcends all of the aforementioned genres.
Dead Zebras
From the neon-lit streets of London comes Dead Zebras, a band hell-bent on proving that big hooks, bigger hair, and face-melting solos never go out of style. Blending the arena-sized anthems of 80s hair metal with the polished punch of modern rock radio, these four bring a fresh, high-voltage energy that feels like the soundtrack to a high-speed chase in a flaming DeLorean.

- Meet on the Ledge
Warwickshire-based folk-rock favourites Meet On The Ledge. The band are celebrating thirty-three-and-a-third years together with their 'Third of a Century' Tour.
Founder members Ron Holmes and Allen Maslen still remain from when MOTL began as a folk duo in 1992. Today they are a five-piece band, augmented by keyboard player Steve Bird, drummer Bo Davies and Craig Sunderland on bass.
Keyboardist Steve has an impressive pedigree, having played keys for 1960s chart topper Eden Kane (Well I Ask You) and 70s chart topper Don Fardon (Indian Reservation) as well as being in the backing band for the legendary Marty Wilde.
Drummer Bo was lead percussionist for Wasps Rugby Club at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, and was also a founder member of festival favourites Sambassadors of Groove.
Bassist Craig has a growing reputation as one of the finest multi-instrumentalists on the UK folk circuit. His recently released solo album 'The Flamebearer' is receiving rave reviews.
Critics and reviewers have tried many times to pigeonhole MOTLs music with varying degrees of success. The bands favourite description of their music is Big Country in a bar brawl with Thin Lizzy although they are perhaps best known for their gentler material, such as their original lifeboat epic The Mary Stanford of Rye which has become an international folk classic in its own right.

- Brian Jackson + Special Guests
One-half of the legendary duo Gil Scott- Heron and Brian Jackson, Brian began his professional career at 18, having recorded nine albums by his 27th birthday. The young prodigies recorded their very first album with greats Ron Carter, Bernard Purdie and Hubert Laws.
Together, Scott-Heron and Jackson wrote songs that depicted the social and political context of their time, with a rich musicality that borrows from jazz, blues and soul. Their catalogue has travelled through time and generations and has been a source of sample material for decades. Artists such as Tupac, Common, Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar, among others, have found inspiration in their tracks.
Brian is considered an early progenitor of the musical genre called “conscious music” - music with a message, which prompted New Yorker Magazine to call him “a musical pioneer.”
In 2025, Brian Jackson brings us Now More than Ever, the definitive rework of Gil Scott-Heron and Brian Jackson compositions that somehow seem more relevant today than when they wrote them 50 years ago.
Produced by Masters at Work (aka Louie Vega and Kenny Dope), Brian slips seamlessly through the time continuum to bring the message that all listeners, both old and young, need to hear - now more than ever.
Lineup:
Brian Jackson: keyboards, lead vocals, flute
Lex Cameron: keyboards, backing vocals, flute, guitar (Omar, Leon Ware) Steve Walters: bass (George Michael, Amy Winehouse)

The Snow Is Dancing
Gnossienne No. 4
MinstrelsThis recital pairs Schubert with Chopin, and Satie with Debussy composers who found remarkable expression in intimate musical forms.
Schuberts Moments Musicaux and Chopins Mazurkas share a quixotic nature and the spirit of experiment. Both explore surprising turns of harmony and rhythm: Schubert through shifting moods and unexpected modulations, and Chopin through subtle rhythmic inflections that transform the Polish dance into something deeply personal and poetic.
In the second half, Satie and Debussy reflect a friendship marked by both admiration and tension. Saties Gnossiennes and Je te veux reveal his spare, unconventional style, while Debussys Clair de lune, The Snow Is Dancing, and Minstrels expand these ideas with greater colour and nuance shaped, too, by the lingering influence of Chopin.
Together, these works trace a path from Romantic intimacy to modern refinement, showing how small forms can hold entire worlds of imagination.

- Sleepwalk: The Dream of Lady Macbeth
From the makers of the acclaimed The Spirit in the Dust and following its successful premiere at Kino-Teatr last year - Sleepwalk: The Dream of Lady Macbeth features dance artist Yanalle Ritter as Lady Macbeth, with music from the trio Afrit Nebula and lighting/moving images by film-maker Mark French.
Based on an original concept and musical composition by Elaine Edwards, the piece re-imagines the sleepwalk scene in Shakespeares Macbeth in the context of the horrors of the present day: wars, famine, climate emergency. It references and evokes many other aspects of Shakespeares tragedy, not least the return of Birnam Wood at the end in this case Natures response to humanitys ravages.
Sleepwalk lasts approximately 60 minutes.
Yanalle Ritter is a Belgian-British dance artist, born in the 1990s and based in Eastbourne since 2020. A choreographer, company director, teaching artist and performer, she is often involved in interdisciplinary collaborations, and has danced in art galleries, recital rooms, shopping malls, public gardens and even at a train station.
Afrit Nebula (Elaine Edwards, Ken Edwards, Yair Katz) are a band whose adventurous, original music is influenced by avant-jazz, rock, Middle Eastern and Afro-Cuban styles.
Matthew Wright in Jazz Journal said in 2022: Strong bass lines from Ken Edwards and Yair Katzs lively drumming form a bedrock on which the sinuous lines of Elaine Edwards soprano sax flourish, with Dervish-like circular excursions.
Mark French is a director of arts and music documentaries. He is film curator for Hastings Coastal Currents Festival and Hastings Filmmakers. He has worked with artists Laetitia Yhap and Roland Jarvis and musician Trevor Watts as well as on many films and TV shows.

Lo Fidelity Allstars return in 2026.
"One of dance music's Galacticos" (Mixmag) and co-resident at Skint's Boutique alongside Fatboy Slim, Lo Fidelity Allstars helped to define an era in British dance music.
From sweaty nights in UK clubs to full-on American mega stadium tours and global charts hits such as 'Battleflag' and 'Lo Fi's In Ibiza', Lo Fidelity Allstars have been the soundtrack for generations who find the idea of mixed up genres and rocked up beats the norm rather than the exception.
Their career spans winning the 'Most Promising New Band NME Brat Award' to becoming dance press crossover pioneering heroes, a debut album that sold half a million copies in the USA alone, smashing the record for 'biggest import album' previously held by The Clash and a "Best Of" compilation which saw them acclaimed "influential genre-mashing electronic mentalists" by NME review.
"The Lo Fidelity Allstars invented what James Murphy used as a template for a whole career for LCD Soundsystem" DJ Mag Lo-Fidelity Allstars' onstage reputation has always set them apart. As a live band they've been on a journey that has seen them headline shows all around the world.
2026 also sees the release of a new singles compilation album, with many tracks that have never had a physical release before. Lo Fidelity Allstars have always pushed boundaries - you'll hear the hits, but this will be far more than an exercise in nostalgia!

- The Loft
The Loft, original Creation Records legends, set out on a UK tour in the wake of their rave-reviewed Top 20 album, ‘Everything Changes, Everything Stays the Same’, and a string of sold out dates, including touring with The Wedding Present, last year.
This year the band aims to visit towns and cities across the UK that they didn’t play last time, with a new album set to be released to coincide with the shows.
The band heads out on tour, 41 years, almost to the day, since their classic ‘Up The Hill And Down The Slope’, topped the indie singles chart.
Since their infamous onstage split at the Hammersmith Palais in 1985, their status as one of the UK’s most influential guitar bands of the ‘80s continues to grow and to influence a host of younger artists.

- Lorelle Meets the Obsolete
Mexican duo Lorelle Meets The Obsolete make a very welcome return with their sixth album, Datura.
Recorded at their home studio in Ensenada, Baja California, it was mixed in Canada by Jace Lasek of The Besnard Lakes and mastered in Australia by Mikey Young of Eddy. Current Suppression Ring and Total Control. It’s a short, sharp shock of a record with no unnecessary adornments and no fat on any of its eight songs. Gone are the psychedelic wig-outs found on previous releases, replaced with bass-heavy post-punk grooves inspired by the roots of The Congos, the no wave of Ike Yard, the industrial hip-hop of Dälek and the dark modular moves of Hiro Kone, all while harnessing the elemental power of Jon Hassell’s Vernal Equinox.

- Gnod + Special Guests
Since their inception, Gnod’s musical trajectory has been one of constant fluctuation borne out of an incessant need to discover new sonic worlds. Beginning life as a shamanic drone ensemble, at times fitting up to 15 members on stage, these early rituals informed the core ideals that have come to define the group in their years of activity; community and trance-inducing repetition.
Throughout a discography that has amassed dozens of CD-R’s, cassettes and vinyls for labels like Rocket Recordings, Trensmat, Krokodilo (Blackest Ever Black) and their own Tesla Tapes imprint, a restless yet organic need mutate their music into new realms has had critics clawing for comparative touch stones.
Acts as far ranging as Hawkwind, Popul Vuh, Pan Sonic, Sunburned Hand of the Man and Pharaoh Sanders have all been referenced in attempt to pinpoint their output, one that has historically never aped any genre but with each record furthered their own unique place in truly independent music. It is the exact same dedication to the live arena that has seen Gnod become one of the most celebrated live bands in the UK and secured them multiple tours and festival appearances throughout Europe.

- The History Of Witchcraft & Women: Magic, Rituals And The Patriarchy
Explore early modern witchcraft in a new light and its ties to feminist and political movements throughout history. Followed by Q&A.
The Witch is having a moment. With over 7 million ‘WitchTok’ posts on TikTok, she’s become a feminist icon. In today’s #MeToo world, women are reclaiming the Witch as both a symbol of past persecution and present empowerment. Centuries ago, thousands of women were tried and burned at the stake for witchcraft. Today, millennial women are reclaiming the label as a symbol of sexual freedom and resistance to patriarchal norms.
Between 1450 and 1750, around 100,000 people were tried for witchcraft, 75% of them women. Fears often centered on the female body, particularly the post-menopausal body. However, men were also accused, raising the question: why were they targeted in such a patriarchal society? This talk will explore the legacy of the early modern witch-hunts and how the Witch is now being reclaimed as a symbol of feminism, activism, and empowerment.
Doors open at 7pm, talk starts at 7:30pm - come down early to grab a good seat!

- Sunset Images + Support From Lazarus Lake
“In the depths of Mexico City, a maelstrom of sound has been brewing, Sunset Images, a sonic entity -fueled by the unyielding passion of Samuel Osorio- has transcended the influences of krautrock, shoegaze, and punk into a layered soundscape of dissonance, cathartic release, and emotional depth.
With a growing reputation for their intense live performances, Sunset Images has shared stages with notable bands, toured extensively across multiple continents and released a series of EPs and a LP that confront violence, racism and misogyny, and had dealt with subjects like loneliness, anger and desperation.
This journey has lead them into their highly anticipated debut with Dedstrange, the label founded by none other than the mastermind behind A Place To Bury Strangers and the FX pedal company Death by Audio, Oliver Ackermann, who sought out and brought them into the Dedstrange tribe of sonic outcasts, where Sunset Images has found the perfect home and only label that could match their vision for massively distorted and inextricable sound.
Their new album, "Oscilador", set to drop on January 23, 2026, is a sonic resistance manifesto that embodies the perpetual cycle of birth, decay, chaos, and resolution that rules our world. Fractured synths, pulsating vocals, primitive drum beats, and feedback-drenched guitars collide, creating an aural landscape that's both disorienting and irresistible - brutal, raw, and honest, yet accessible, chaotic, and beautiful, like the world itself."
Presented by The Piper.

- The Utopia Strong + Special Guests
The life of a psychonaut can take one to many plateaus of reality. Opinions vary as regards which of these are either desirable or optimal. All things considered though, it’s fair to say that once the average cerebral wanderer finds themselves a stoned skeleton on a motorbike
It's a sign that they're going places.
Such were the movements of The Utopia Strong, in making their third and arguably trippiest full length album for Rocket Recordings. As the band explain: “When recording we tend to have books, bits of art and interesting things lying around the place. (Kavus) had recently bought the Paul Kirchner compendium, Awaiting The Collapse. Paul’s character Dope Rider (the skeleton
in question) drives around the desert, getting into all manner of high jinx and spouting cosmic philosophy, highlighting the absurdities of life, death and the American mythos. “When we had created that particular track, one of our most beautiful and outré, it seemed to name itself. Certainly, we were looking at the comic strips while listening to it and something about it’s wide-screen vibes and the beautiful desert seemed to marry together.”
Serendipity has always played a strong role in The Utopia Strong, with the improvisatory approach of Steve Davis, Kavus Torabi and Mike York - as well as the innate chemistry between the trio - allowing them to take extensions through dimensions that frequently end up as much of a surprise to the band as the listener.
Presented by The Piper.

- Wicked Smile
Australias Wicked Smile are all about bringing back fist pumping heavy rock to the forefront. They released one of the albums of the year in 2021; a collection of ten killer songs, produced by Paul Laine (The Defiants) and mastered by Bruno Ravel (The Defiants/Danger Danger).
Guitarist Stevie Janevski goes on to say, we're a five-piece kick ass heavy rock band and I think we made our presence known with the release of our debut album Wait For The Night".
Wicked Smile is fronted by charismatic powerhouse lead vocalist Danny Cecati (ex Pegazus & Eyefear) with Stevie Janevski (ex Black Majesty & Cyclone Tracy) & Dave Graham (EX In Malice's Wake) on guitars, Tom Nugara (Envenomed) on bass & Andrew Sharp (EX Pegazus) on drums.
Lyrically, the band explores current issues within society such as civil unrest, bullying and mental health. Songs like We Fall, Sign Of Times, Daze Of Delirium, Stronger, Last Goodbye & Dont Wait For Me are all thought provoking and not the cliché lyrics that youd expect for this style of heavy rock.
Wicked Smile has been overwhelmed by the positive response from the underground rock and metal community. Steve Price at ARfm radio called the band kickass Australian rock with killer vocals.
Fans of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Dio and Skid Row should feel at home, with the band drawing major influence from seventies and eighties heavy rock and heavy metal.
