  • Strummerville On Sea - Silverwingkiller + More

Strummerville On Sea - bringing a taste of Strummerville to the South Coast this summer.

SILVERWINGKILLER. Hailed by BBC 6MUSIC as Next Up rising talent, and performing at this year’s 6 Music festival, this Manchester duo shake punk chaos with 90s acid rave juice and ferocious, multi-lingual vocals.

Part of the Fat White/Windmill axis South London’s Y career fearlessly and wonkily through genres from Gameboy thrash to Egyptian wedding music, but always, always with massive grooves. Their newest single has just landed an exclusive first play from Steve Lamacq on 6 Music.

Hastings’ own CHIMER are part Cure, part shimmering shoegaze, seen through sparkly, wide-eyed, fresh eyes. Their majestic appearance at our Ummagumma festival cemented their reputation as the town’s fastest rising stars.

Cutting Teeth Records launches its first show - bringing together artists shaping new music right now. A night built around energy, momentum, and bands pushing things forward - from underground scenes to national radio.

Rooted in a long history of supporting new music and grassroots culture, Strummerville continues to give emerging artists a place to be heard.

  • Acidfest Hastings: Mini Psych Fest

ACIDFEST HASTINGS brings an exciting lineup to the popular The Piper in Saint Leonards-on-sea. Thee Lucifer Sams are true visionaries, refusing to put their music on platforms such as Spotify or having social media. Their mix of semi-improvised psychedelic noise draws equally from the abstraction of Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd, Lemmy's Hawkwind and Sonic Youth noise - with no songs just a full-on psychedelic, sonic rollercoaster.

The Dead Zoo are a proudly trans led, corn fed noisy post-punk band from London, who always put on an energetic live set, and are always worth watching.

Eels! Eels! Eels! join us for the first time - and first time in Hastings too. Energetic alt-rock with healthy doses of psych and already played on the radio.

Madonovan is the best shoegaze artist you've never heard before, and an unique concept - a tribute to itself, covering songs written, but never released, over 30 years ago. A cathartic ode to lost youth, dreams and rock'n'roll itself.

Acidfest is more than just a "gig", but a true happening. This is what the Liverpool Psychedelic Society always offers at our events: an unique experience, something that the mainstream is unable to offer, truly grassroots and open to all.

This is not about any "scene", we just create our own culture and everyone is welcome to enjoy… so come and join the society!

  • Left Lane Cruiser + Special Guests

Specializing in a raw hillbilly punk-blues style that roars like a tweaking modal chain saw, Left Lane Cruiser is a band led by slide guitarist Freddie J. Evans IV. Their music has the swampy feel of North Mississippi hill country-blues à la Junior Kimbrough and R.L. Burnside, with a good dose of snarling garage punk tossed into the mix. While the band would sometimes expand into a trio, they've recorded the bulk of their work as a two-piece, and the tough, funky roar of their music arrived fully formed on their 2006 debut Gettin' Down on It. Left Lane Cruiser stayed true to their sledgehammer take on garage-infused blues, even when they partnered with James Leg on 2012's Painkillers, added an electric skateboard on 2015's Dirty Spliff Blues, or brought in a keyboard player for 2017's Claw Machine Wizard. They returned to the basics of a two-man lineup for 2024's Bayport BBQ Blues.

Fusing monodrama, melodrama, stand-up and virtuosic classical piano, raconteur, Mike Hatchard, is directed by West End, Broadway and Olivier winner, Guy Masterson.

Concert trained Hatchard plays both the music and the man (bearing a startling resemblance both in looks and character) revealing the tempestuousness, tenderness, frustrations, futility and humour.

  • Meet on the Ledge

Warwickshire-based folk-rock favourites Meet On The Ledge. The band are celebrating thirty-three-and-a-third years together with their 'Third of a Century' Tour.

Founder members Ron Holmes and Allen Maslen still remain from when MOTL began as a folk duo in 1992. Today they are a five-piece band, augmented by keyboard player Steve Bird, drummer Bo Davies and Craig Sunderland on bass.

Keyboardist Steve has an impressive pedigree, having played keys for 1960s chart topper Eden Kane (Well I Ask You) and 70s chart topper Don Fardon (Indian Reservation) as well as being in the backing band for the legendary Marty Wilde.

Drummer Bo was lead percussionist for Wasps Rugby Club at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, and was also a founder member of festival favourites Sambassadors of Groove.

Bassist Craig has a growing reputation as one of the finest multi-instrumentalists on the UK folk circuit. His recently released solo album 'The Flamebearer' is receiving rave reviews.

Critics and reviewers have tried many times to pigeonhole MOTLs music with varying degrees of success. The bands favourite description of their music is Big Country in a bar brawl with Thin Lizzy although they are perhaps best known for their gentler material, such as their original lifeboat epic The Mary Stanford of Rye which has become an international folk classic in its own right.

    Gnossienne No. 1
    Clair de Lune
    Je Te Veux
    The Snow Is Dancing
    Gnossienne No. 4
    Minstrels

This recital pairs Schubert with Chopin, and Satie with Debussy composers who found remarkable expression in intimate musical forms.

Schuberts Moments Musicaux and Chopins Mazurkas share a quixotic nature and the spirit of experiment. Both explore surprising turns of harmony and rhythm: Schubert through shifting moods and unexpected modulations, and Chopin through subtle rhythmic inflections that transform the Polish dance into something deeply personal and poetic.

In the second half, Satie and Debussy reflect a friendship marked by both admiration and tension. Saties Gnossiennes and Je te veux reveal his spare, unconventional style, while Debussys Clair de lune, The Snow Is Dancing, and Minstrels expand these ideas with greater colour and nuance shaped, too, by the lingering influence of Chopin.

Together, these works trace a path from Romantic intimacy to modern refinement, showing how small forms can hold entire worlds of imagination.

  • This House We Built

The real bricks and mortar of the band are a heady mix of bands from Englands Scarborough Strip (think Sunset Strip but with less debauchery, more chips and an untapped resource of talent since five Little Angels flew big in 88). Players Scott Wardell (vocals guitar), Andy Jackson (guitars vocals), Chris Mayes (drums vocals) and Wayne Dowkes White (bass) finally came together just prior to the world shutting down in 2020. Rather than dwell on not being able to bring their collective talents to the stage, they started the socially distanced writing sessions that bought the plot for the house they were about to build. Each man brought a different musical path to the band, and you can hear them all as the album unfolds. Eclectic influences ranging from classic rock, funk, emo, nu-metal and melodic rock are mixed perfectly across the ten songs and brick by harmony laden brick they build a unique sound that transcends all of the aforementioned genres.

    Dead Zebras

From the neon-lit streets of London comes Dead Zebras, a band hell-bent on proving that big hooks, bigger hair, and face-melting solos never go out of style. Blending the arena-sized anthems of 80s hair metal with the polished punch of modern rock radio, these four bring a fresh, high-voltage energy that feels like the soundtrack to a high-speed chase in a flaming DeLorean.

This brings us to the show you see before you.

A mesmerising collection of hits and memorable moments from the decades, wowing audiences once more? ..Ultimately, a glorious celebration of their music..together at last!

Together, the set list of these two musical heavyweights is unrivalled.

Endless Love as a show is beautifully presented by a dazzling cast and a highly energised band, the result is a joyful, emotional rollercoaster from the glitz, glamour and sentiment of soaring love songs, rocking out to 80's classics and gettin' down to outright floor fillers. there really is something for everyone. It's impossible not to sing along and it's going to be one of the most memorable and enjoyable shows you'll see.

  • Wicked Smile

Australias Wicked Smile are all about bringing back fist pumping heavy rock to the forefront. They released one of the albums of the year in 2021; a collection of ten killer songs, produced by Paul Laine (The Defiants) and mastered by Bruno Ravel (The Defiants/Danger Danger).

Guitarist Stevie Janevski goes on to say, we're a five-piece kick ass heavy rock band and I think we made our presence known with the release of our debut album Wait For The Night".

Wicked Smile is fronted by charismatic powerhouse lead vocalist Danny Cecati (ex Pegazus & Eyefear) with Stevie Janevski (ex Black Majesty & Cyclone Tracy) & Dave Graham (EX In Malice's Wake) on guitars, Tom Nugara (Envenomed) on bass & Andrew Sharp (EX Pegazus) on drums.

Lyrically, the band explores current issues within society such as civil unrest, bullying and mental health. Songs like We Fall, Sign Of Times, Daze Of Delirium, Stronger, Last Goodbye & Dont Wait For Me are all thought provoking and not the cliché lyrics that youd expect for this style of heavy rock.

Wicked Smile has been overwhelmed by the positive response from the underground rock and metal community. Steve Price at ARfm radio called the band kickass Australian rock with killer vocals.

Fans of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Dio and Skid Row should feel at home, with the band drawing major influence from seventies and eighties heavy rock and heavy metal.

  • Melt It! - The Film of The Iceman + Producer/Director Q&A

Melt It! - The Film of The Iceman

In the 1980s and 1990s, Anthony Irvine was a comedian and cabaret performer. His act was a little unusual. As the Iceman, he went on stage to melt ice. Literally. Hed bring a large block of ice onto the stage then try to melt it (or fail to melt it) in a variety of creative ways. Among his fans were Mike Myers, Stewart Lee and Bill Bailey.

In 2010, when Robert Wringham wrote his book about this era of comedy, the Iceman could not be found.

But a few years later, Anthony Irvine popped up again, this time as a visual artist called Aim. What was going on?

Starring: Anthony Irvine & Robert Wringham with Stewart Lee, Jo Brand, Mark Thomas, Robin Ince, Ronni Ancona, Simon Munnery, Neil Mullarkey & Stuart Semple

Producers: Mark Cartwright & Robert Wringham (You are Nothing / New Escapologist)

Executive Producer: Michael Cumming (Toast of London / Brass Eye / King Rocker)

    Director: Mark Cartwright

    Length: 75 minutes

Its art, its odd, its fun and you need to see it.

    • Mark Thomas (Comedian)

"An affectionate and heartfelt celebration of a man who pioneered the idea of melting ice on stage. Immensely charming."

  • Miguel Rothschild

Miguel Rothschild brings a dramatic new seascape installation to Hastings Contemporary, exploring what lies beneath the ocean's surface.

The duality and elemental power of the sea have inspired Miguel Rothschild's work for more than two decades, creating work which conjures the luminous, ever moving and changing surface of the sea, as well as its silent, introspective depths.

A celebrated figure internationally, this will be Rothschild's first solo show in a major UK gallery and will include a dramatic new, site-specific seascape installation in the galleries, shown alongside recent photographic work.

Rothschild's work spans film, expanded photography, drawing and large-scale installations, to create impossible dioramas that beguile and transfix the viewer. His work seeks to encourage dialogue around the need to care for and understand our oceans, and how sustainability requires us to acknowledge what remains hidden beneath the waves.

  • Moore / Freud

Moore / Freud will be the first exhibition to explore the distinctive ways in which Henry Moore and Lucian Freud drew upon familial bonds and intimate relationships as crucial sources of artistic inspiration.

Bringing together a focused selection of 20 works, including maquettes, works on paper, and paintings, the exhibition presents two towering figures of the 20th century side by side through a shared and deeply personal theme.

Contemporaries with interlocking social circles – though not closely associated in life – Freud and Moore shared an enduring fascination with the theme of family in their work, albeit interpreted through markedly different styles and approaches. Whilst Moore tended towards abstraction and Freud was deeply engaged with figurative realism, both artists demonstrated a profound sensitivity to human connection and emotional intimacy, sustained throughout their long artistic careers.

  • The Hanging Stars + Special Guests

London’s The Hanging Stars return with their sixth album, Just A Day - a dazzling collection of four-part harmonies, shimmering twelve-string guitars and chiming songs, touching on themes of longing, new beginnings and the fragility of the everyday. Recorded at Edwyn Collin’s legendary Clashnarrow Studios in the Scottish Highlands, the album marks a bold new chapter for the band, produced with the invaluable guidance of Teenage Fanclub’s Gerard Love.

A line-up change at the end of 2024 proved to be a galvanising moment for The Hanging Stars. “We needed to rethink things,” says guitarist Patrick Ralla. “A new leaner approach - bass, drums, guitars, four-part harmonies. Certainly worked for The Byrds, Big Star and Teenage Fanclub.” The result is a wonderfully energising record full of catchy hooks and a renewed vision. The songs are designed to take the listener away from it all… even if it's just for a little while.

Central to the record’s new direction was the involvement of Gerard Love - one third of Teenage Fanclub’s celebrated songwriting trio and the artist behind Lightships. Starting from demos exchanged between Glasgow and London, Love helped the band strip things back to their essence, ever so gently guiding them toward their finest work to date. He also joined the band for a week of recording, contributing vocals, arrangement ideas and by all accounts a mean vegan curry.

  • Pete Bassman

The Liverpool Psychedelic Society brings to The Piper the one and only Pete Bassman, from the legendary Spacemen 3. Early finish (10pm)

Pete Bassman (aka Pete Bain) is one of the original members of Spacemen 3, which can be considered one of the most influential psych bands of all time. From modest beginnings in Rugby, Spacemen 3 went on to influence generations of psych rockers worldwide with albums such as 'Sound of Confusion', 'The Perfect Prescription' and 'Performance' - all featuring Pete Bassman.

Pete left Spacemen 3 (and was replaced by Will Carruthers) and formed other influential and equally excellent projects, such as The Darkside and Alpha Stone. Pete Bassman is the only original member of Spacemen 3 still based in Rugby and, for our money, he remains the best and most "spaceman" member of Spacemen 3. His live sets are real psychedelic trips and he's STILL light years ahead of anyone else on the scene. Simply unmissable.

Main support on the night will be Thee Lucifer Sams, the visionary psychedelic rock band from Liverpool, who refuses to do social media profiles or stream their music: their semi-improvised jams reminiscent of Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd , mixed with Hawkwind drive and Sonic Youth noise can only be experienced live. Audiences as far afield as Germany, Iceland and Sweden have enjoyed their sets - no two Thee Lucifer Sams shows are ever the same, and they were lauded by renowned writer John Robb as "stunning" live.

Black Arches are an experimental group from Hastings, fusing psychedelia, electronics, spoken word and noise rock in wild live improvisations. They regularly collaborate with Medway Scene legend Sexton Ming and are not to be missed!

Liverpool Psychedelic Society nights are more than just gigs, but true psychedelic happenings, with visuals and great vibes all night.

  • The Prat Pack

Inspired by the performances of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford, the UK stars are hitting the road (with Pasquale at the wheel of the tour bus).

Packed with laughs and songs, backed by a 15-piece band, the show will let the audience in on the banter between some of television's best-loved stars - who are also very close friends.

Bradley Walsh says: "People are starved of our type of entertainment - songs, stories, jokes - and banter! It's an homage to the Rat Pack but brought up to the modern day, and its a fantastic night. We are just thrilled. We all share the same dressing room - we're mates. We've known each other for so long now - and the show is about warmth and family - because we are. It's great, really great."

Walsh was joined by his three mates and the Barry Robinson Big Band for a one-off show at the Palladium in London in March, and the idea was born for a full-on Prat Pack tour.

Fans can expect an evening packed with jokes that can only come from the chemistry of such seasoned entertainers. Walsh, Conley and Richie were all Pontins Bluecoats earlier in their careers and Pasquale was a Warner's Greencoat, giving them all a grounding in variety before decades-long careers at the very top of entertainment.

  • The History of Mermaids, Sea Spirits & Women

Dive beneath the surface of mermaid lore, tracing their long histories and what they may reveal about wider society. Followed by Q&A.

Mermaids and sea creatures of various kinds have existed in legends and myths from coastal areas all over the world. They are often, though not always, female, and their gender also performs an ambiguous role in relation to human models of femininity, womanhood, and heterosexuality; mermaids, selkies, and female sea creatures can uncannily be familiar and unfamiliar, charming and repulsive, caring and deadly.

While the female sea spirits’ elusiveness is in common with many supernatural monsters, it also reflects a double set of anxieties about Women and Nature, and, particularly, the marine world, where both resist definition and control by patriarchal and western anthropocentric frames of mind.

Dr Monica Germanà is a Reader in Gothic and Contemporary Studies at the University of Westminster and co-president of the International Gothic Association. She is a leading authority on the Gothic imagination - particularly the ways gender, identity, and the uncanny intersect in literature and culture.

They've shared stages with rock royalty such as KISS, Extreme, Peter Criss, Ace Frehley, Bruce Kulick, LA Guns, The Angels, Short Stack, Rose Tattoo, and The Screaming Jets - proving they can hold their own among the legends. Their dedication has earned them both critical acclaim and a fiercely loyal global fanbase known as the Doll Army. With every performance, Sisters Doll continue to raise the bar - combining theatrical flair, raw musicianship, and undeniable passion. After a rave-success debut on the legendary Monsters of Rock Cruise out of Miami - where they were widely regarded as one of the standout acts on the ship - the band continues to grow their international footprint. The band returned to the fan-favourite Rock the Boat Vol. 2 cruise after a show-stealing run in 2024. Their recent UK tour marked a major milestone, culminating in a knockout performance at the Call of the Wild Festival. The impact was so strong that they've already been invited back to headline several UK festivals in 2026, further cementing their rising star status in the global rock scene. With five #1 rock singles in Australia and a Top 10 ARIA-charting album for their latest release Scars, Sisters Doll are proving they're not just here for the moment - they're here for the legacy. Welcome to the Dollhouse. Are you ready to play? Paradise Sins Paradise Sins don't play rock shows - they ignite them. A triple-shot cocktail of stadium-sized anthems, towering vocals and hook-soaked hard rock, the band hit with a sound built for raised fists, blown speakers and zero apologies. Formed in 2022, Paradise Sins have mastered the art of turning sweat-soaked rooms into full-scale arenas, dragging stadium energy into bars, clubs and venues across the UK. By 2025, the band had ripped through a successful headline tour across England and Wales, proving their songs hit just as hard on the road as they do on record. That momentum detonated on the festival circuit with explosive sets at Call of the Wild, Rockmantic and Mangata Festival, including a packed-out Trailblazer Stage at Call of the Wild 2025 that left no doubt they belong on the big stages. Paradise Sins have gone toe-to-toe on shared bills with Royal Republic, Michael Monroe, The Raven Age, Tailgunner and Collateral, earning their stripes and winning over crowds the hard way - song by song, night by night. Their breakout single "Bad Bad Bad" marked a turning point - highly acclaimed, dominating UK rock radio, and smashing out beyond UK borders with international airplay. The band's rise has been backed by features in Classic Rock Magazine, Power Play Rock & Metal, and Fireworks Magazine, cementing their status as one of the UK's most dangerous new rock exports.

  • Jazz Breakfast at Kino - Mike Hatchard: The OWL, the PUSSYCAT, ALICE and ALL THAT JAZZ

Mike Hatchard invites three of the best musicians known to him for another of his legendary Jazz breakfast sessions and this time the theme is an homage to masters of nonsense Lewis Carroll and Edward Lear, both of whom had strong local connections.

DOMINIC ASHWORTH has to be one of the most accomplished and versatile guitarists in the UK. Canadian born but now London based, Dominic has toured and recorded with Carol Kidd, Michael Garrick, Julian Marc Stringle, Digby Fairweather's Half Dozen, George Melly and Paul Jones. He was awarded the Jazz Guitarist of the year at the Birmingham Jazz awards.

Winner of the 2019 Parliamentary Jazz Instrumentalist of the year, JOSEPHINE DAVIES is a brilliant saxophonist and composer who is highly revered in a town that boasts an inordinate number of well-known sax players…Hastings. She has presented her original music at the Kino before but this is her first engagement with Mike who is really looking forward to the experience.

They are joined by the STEPHEN BRIDGLAND, a multi-talented guitarist, double bassist, and composer. Winner of the Canterbury Festival Composition Prize, Stephen has performed at Brecon Jazz Festival, Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival and the Canterbury Festival, as well as venues including The 606 Club, The Vortex, and The Royal Festival Hall.

Everybody in this ensemble is a composer in their own right but this concert will particularly feature extracts from a suite by Mike Hatchard inspired by (and sometimes using the words of) Lewis Carroll and Edward Lear. But if that doesnt make you curiouser and curiouser there will be plenty of jazz standards and music from other genres too. Not to mention, as always, a lot of laughs…not so funny as to make you choke on your free croissant but mirthful enough

Please note instead of the usual two set two hour concert this will be one one-and-a-half-hour set so youll have plenty of time to get home and enjoy your Sunday roast…

  • The Utopia Strong + Mccartney Gap

The life of a psychonaut can take one to many plateaus of reality. Opinions vary as regards which of these are either desirable or optimal. All things considered though, it’s fair to say that once the average cerebral wanderer finds themselves a stoned skeleton on a motorbike

    It's a sign that they're going places.

Such were the movements of The Utopia Strong, in making their third and arguably trippiest full length album for Rocket Recordings. As the band explain: “When recording we tend to have books, bits of art and interesting things lying around the place. (Kavus) had recently bought the Paul Kirchner compendium, Awaiting The Collapse. Paul’s character Dope Rider (the skeleton

in question) drives around the desert, getting into all manner of high jinx and spouting cosmic philosophy, highlighting the absurdities of life, death and the American mythos. “When we had created that particular track, one of our most beautiful and outré, it seemed to name itself. Certainly, we were looking at the comic strips while listening to it and something about it’s wide-screen vibes and the beautiful desert seemed to marry together.”

Serendipity has always played a strong role in The Utopia Strong, with the improvisatory approach of Steve Davis, Kavus Torabi and Mike York - as well as the innate chemistry between the trio - allowing them to take extensions through dimensions that frequently end up as much of a surprise to the band as the listener.

  • Josh Wink - Insomnia Special

When you’re as iconic a figure as Josh Wink, it’s not so easy to sum up a career in a few words-but there are a couple of terms that might serve to get a handle on the seminal electronic-music producer’s lifework. One of the most apt, certainly, would be longevity.

A brief scan of Wink’s mammoth résumé reveals the following: Early-’80s as an underage mobile DJ; a major role in fostering his native Philadelphia’s burgeoning warehouse scene during the house-music explosion later that decade; (name-making,) international underground and chart-topping club hits like “Don’t Laugh,” “Higher State of Consciousness” and “I’m Ready”; a label, Ovum Re- cordings, that’s undisputedly one of the most essential dance-music imprints; and his current position, after all these years, as one of the scene’s most vibrant, rick taking, creative DJs and producers (witness the critical success of his 2009 long-player When A Banana Was Just A Banana).

Vive Le Punk UK 2026, documentary

Directed by Danny Garcia, this new documentary is celebrating 50 years of UK Punk.

Vive Le Punk dives headfirst into the raw, undying spirit of the movement that changed musicand societyforever…or did it?

Featuring four iconic bands still rocking the stage todaySham 69, 999, Ruts DC, and The Boysthe film chronicles their enduring legacy while showcasing their ongoing journeys in the modern era. Through exclusive interviews, candid conversations, and behind-the-scenes access, we follow these punk pioneers as they continue to defy expectations and challenge the status quo.

As we follow the bands in their daily lives and on stage, the documentary asks the burning questions: Is Punk still relevant? What does Punk mean in a world still full of inequality and unrest? How do these bands stay relevant and connected to the same rebellious energy they first ignited? What does the message of Punk still offer to a new generation looking for something real?

With rare archival footage, live performances, and an unflinching look at the punk ethos in todays world, this film is not just a retrospectivein a world that mirrors the one Punk once railed against, is the message still relevantor has it been consumed by commercialism? Punk may have started as anarchy in the streets, but its far from finished. Vive le Punk!

  • Why Macbeth Bowler Crab Theatre Company

Macbeth is one of Shakespeares most renowned plays - the magic, the blood, the prophecy, the madness but the question is: Why?

Stephen Johns solo shows explore characters from across Shakespeare's works with performances of speeches and scenes by multiple characters all played by one actor. With the performance punctuated with personable interjections, Stephen John performs parts of the play whilst exploring the influences of legendary myths, the real history of Scotland, the understanding of magic, the reality of spirits and Shakespeares own historical writing context; all to endeavour to discover what makes Macbeth in particular a play for all time.
