Since reforming in 2016, with the blessing of band founder Vincent Crane's widow, ATOMIC ROOSTER , with their early 70's heyday guitar player STEVE 'BOLTZ' BOLTON at the helm the band have gone from strength to strength playing scores of festivals in the UK and Europe and frequently touring to a steadily growing fanbase.

Aside from their two 70's UK and USA chart hits, DEVIL'S ANSWER and TOMORROW NIGHT, 'Rooster are also much acclaimed for at least two classic proto-metal-gothic-prog albums in the shape of the legendary 'DEATH WALKS BEHIND YOU' album from 1970 and 'IN THE HEARING OF…' released the following year. Both these albums plus the following 'MADE IN ENGLAND' with Chris Farlowe on vocals and Steve Bolton on guitar (not to mention SPINAL TAP's legendary drummer RICK PARNELL on drums!) have firmly established ATOMIC ROOSTER at the vanguard of British Progressive music.

Mike Bowler is a local painter, living in Fairlight with Trish, his wife. Mike started painting fifteen years ago and some years after retiring, when, as he said, his grandchildren's paintings were far better than his. He studied, and continues to study with local artist, Mike Funnell, whose skill and patience has "helped Mike to get where he is today".

Mike works in a style that he describes as somewhere between realism and surrealism. He works in acrylic paint, using palette knives on large format boards.

Internationally acclaimed clarinetist Adrian Cox is a leading authority on New Orleans music, bringing an authentic and electrifying voice to the idiom. As a celebrated exponent of the style, Cox has dedicated his career to preserving and pushing the boundaries of early jazz, earning praise for his masterful technique, deep historical knowledge, and infectious energy on stage. His unrivalled feel and virtuosity for the music he plays have led to concerts with the biggest names in jazz including two concerts with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra both in London and New York.

Sidney Bechet is the most revered saxophonist to come out of New Orleans, known for his stentorian sound and stirring musicality, he was a forerunner of jazz music, inspiring countless musicians to come including the Adrian Cox Trio. The Wonderful World Of Bechet explores Bechet's impact on the world of music, through his contributions as a clarinettist, composer (Si Tu Vois Ma Mère) and recording artist (Summertime).

The Adrian Cox Trio are an established group who have toured extensively worldwide focused on presenting music from the New Orleans tradition. Comprised of clarinet, guitar & double Bass, the trio respectfully and accessibly bring this music into the 21st century.

Girlschool

Girlschool is a British rock band formed in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal scene in the 1970s and is frequently associated with contemporaries Motörhead. They are the longest-running all-female rock band, still active after almost 40 years.

Originally formed in 1975 from a school band called Painted Lady, Girlschool enjoyed strong media exposure and commercial success in the UK in the early 1980s with three albums of "punk-tinged metal" and a few singles.

During their career, Girlschool traveled the world, playing in many rock and metal festivals and co-headlining with important hard rock and heavy metal bands. They maintain a worldwide cult following and are an inspiration for many female rock musicians. Original members Kim McAuliffe, Denise Dufort, and long-time member Jackie Chambers are still in the band. Bassist Olivia Airey joined in 2024.

Raven

RAVEN are that rare thing in music, true originals - cut these guys with a razor and they will BLEED true heavy metal - a more intense live band does not exist on this planet! Hailing from Newcastle Upon Tyne in North East England back in 1974 (yes - 46 YEARS ago!!!) the brothers Gallagher cut their teeth playing the pubs & clubs until solidifying their line up in 1980 with drummer Rob Hunter.

The trio went on to release three of the most influential metal albums of the NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) inspiring every band of that era and beyond. Basically, without Raven you just would not have thrash/speed metal…. after all, the band did give Metallica & Anthrax their first tours!

Following an insane blur of world touring over the last 3 years, the guys released the next RAVEN opus, "Metal City" in September 2020 taking their game to the next level…a scorcher of immense proportions!

In a cynical musical landscape these days, where bands are not "gangs "but faceless corporations, RAVEN are a band that are REAL not FAKE - and proud of it!

Alcatrazz

Alcatrazz is a heavy metal band that was formed in Los Angeles in 1983 by Jimmy Waldo, Gary Shea (both formerly of melodic rock band New England) and Graham Bonnet (formerly of Rainbow and Michael Schenker Group). The initial line-up was completed by the addition of young Swedish guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen, who had recently left American metal band Steeler, and former Iron Butterfly drummer Jan Uvena, who had just recently departed Alice Cooper's backing band. It was Shea that named the band "Alcatrazz"; the misspelling of the famous prison's name deliberate.

Alcatrazz are currently writing and recording for a 2026 album release.

Airforce

After disbanding in 1997, Airforce took to the stage once again in 2008 with Chop Pitman being the only original member involved. The band underwent a number of line-up changes over the next 8 years until 2016, when the retro-spective album "Judgement Day" was released. This album marked the return of the original Airforce line- up of Chop Pitman, Doug Sampson and Tony Hatton, with new recruit Dilian Arnaudov on vocals.

With line-up complete, Airforce released several EPs, including songs with guest appearances from former Iron Maiden vocalists Paul Di'Anno and Paul Mario Day. Their most memorable live performances include North American tours which won loyalty of new fans, as well as the appearance on Hills of Rock festival in Bulgaria, where they played on the same bill as Iron Maiden and Judas Priest.

The band continued to tour the UK as well as taking their show to other countries, both in Europe and across the Atlantic, including some festival appearances and a successful tour supporting Steve Harris' British Lion in 2021. When you hear the air-raid siren, you'll know the hour of Airforce has arrived.

Co-founder of the legendary Good Times Sound System and London dance music station KISS FM, Jay fostered the ‘Rare Groove’ scene pushing the boundaries of the UK’s emerging club culture. Awarded an MBE for services to deejaying and music, in 2017 he released ‘Mister Good Times’ capturing the true spirit of Good Times, and is currently taking his legendary Good Times party to selected venues around the UK, continuing to convert generations of clubbers to the cause, championing new sounds, yet never forgetting his musical roots, thus guaranteeing nothing but ‘Good Times’.

The venue is next to the gorgeous Hastings Museum which has a section dedicated to the railways of Hastings and free entry, so worth visiting there after the show.

Summerfields Leisure Centre is approximately 3/4 mile from Hastings Rail Station (up hill!) but buses operate from both Hastings and St Leonards stations direct to the venue. Direct buses from Rye, Bexhill and Tunbridge Wells also to outside venue.

Parking There is a pay-and-display parking on-site. The machine accepts either coins only or payment by Ringgo phone app (Location code: 17164). Please check the link for more details before your visit. https://www.hastings.gov.uk/parking/carparks/summerfields/ There are 100 spaces and these will fill up very fast, so recommended leaving car at home and coming by bus.

There is some limited on-street parking immediately surrounding the leisure centre. We recommend if coming by car to park away from the venue and take a 10 minutes bus ride direct to the site entrance.

Public transport Stagecoach buses operate from Hastings and St Leonards stations direct to the venue. Connecting buses from Rye, Tenterden and Eastbourne are also in operation - please check timetables before you travel.

Please note: The exhibition is located on the lower ground floor of the venue, accessible via a short flight of stairs. Full wheelchair access to the exhibition hall is available via a lift; venue staff will assist with this if required. Regretfully, pets are not permitted in the venue with the exception of guide dogs. Most traders will accept card payments, but smaller trade stands/ pre-loved stands may be cash only. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

The 16th year of interesting and diverse photography exhibitions, workshops and talks across Hastings and St Leonards-on-Sea throughout October.

This year PhotoHastings welcomes Tom Hunter from Friday 16 October at Electro Studios, Seaside Road, St Leonards-on-Sea, TN39 0AL, with the exhibition 'Tom Hunter, A Dialogue', in which PhotoHastings members and guest artists respond to internationally renowned artist Tom Hunter's work, 'A Journey Home'. Tom will be talking to Alex Brattell about his work on Saturday 24 October, 2pm. Free entry.

The festival kicks off with an opening party for three exhibitions - two upstairs and one downstairs - at Electro Studios. With many other shows opening across Hastings and St Leonards-on-Sea, it's a busy month at venues including Hastings Arts Forum, The Crown, Good Grades and Barnaby's Lounge.

Ever wondered if there is a 'local ladies choir near me or nearby'?

The Hastings Rock Choir is led by East Sussex based musician Esther Jones. The choir will be performing locally again soon so it's a chance for you to join in, sing and perform without pressure and under the supportive guidance of Esther. Rock Choir members have performed at the Royal Albert Hall, on top of the BT tower and many more iconic venues across the country.

Whether you only sing in the shower or along to your car radio, or whether you see yourself belting out a showstopper at Wembley Arena (which we did! - for the ITV1 documentary 'The Choir that Rocks'), there's a place for you in the Hastings Rock Choir. With no singing audition or need to read music, anyone can come along to a FREE taster session and see what all the fuss is about!

The HC group began in 2003, is now 15 albums deep, and has never felt more alive. Forever changing. Always pushing forward. Merging the repetition of Oneida and The Fall with touches of Gang Of Four / Lungfish / Sabbath.

HC band members have been in, or are in, numerous other projects, a wide sounding list of groups. From Haress to PJ Harvey via Joeyfat and more. HC is a big focus, a focal point. Every band is connected.

They recorded their most recent album, Heaven Was Wild, in November of 2024 . The album was released in March of 2026 (Wrong Speed Records in the UK, Learning Curve in the USA). The band had gone quiet. No gigs leading up to the album. No gigs after the album. No live performances for two years.

They were working behind the scenes. The line-up was mutating. They'd known Tom House for years. His bands Charlottefield and Sweet Williams are irrepressible, just like he is. An infectious melody. A twisted lyric. An ear for the dark. Tom was the perfect replacement for former frontman, Paul, who has taken a step back from music and is focussing elsewhere.

Keeping some old songs but also working on an entirely new set the band toiled in Birmingham and Somerset. Long weekends. Regular get togethers. Getting it correct. Two years of rehearsals and writing.

So, now, with a new front person, fresh fire and a whole new set of songs the band is taking it out. There will be a new album in 2027. There will be WAY more live shows. Onwards.

Since the early 1980’2 Tyla has led his Dogs D’Amour through the highs and lows of Rock and Roll.

The elegantly scruffy ( now known as shabby chic) band underwent various line up changes over the years but always remained focused on their own style of bluesy rock much like the Rolling Stones and The Faces.

Tyla J Pallas also forged a successful solo career as a songwriter and performer. This allowed him to spend more time on his other passion, art. Indeed, Tyla’s paintings and prints have become much sought after and a couple can usually be found for sale at his live shows.

The Van Morrison Alumni Band, a repertoire company unlike any other, features the musicians who played thousands of concerts and recorded hundreds of songs with Van Morrison, over a period of transition when Van Morrison was making some of his most successful and loved albums including 1995’s million selling “Days Like This” and 1997’s “The Healing Game”.

The evening will be curated and hosted by saxophonist and broadcaster Leo Green, who played on seven albums by Van Morrison and appeared on stages with him all over the world.

Choosing from over 44 studio albums the concert will feature the works from throughout Van Morrison’s career, some of which are very rarely heard live in concert.

Wasted Youth were an English post-punk band from London, England, active between 1979 and 1982, which blended post-punk/pre-Goth with dark acoustic strains of the sort associated with Nick Drake and Syd Barrett. In 2021, Ken Scott and Rocco Barker announced that they were reviving Wasted Youth, with new members joining the band. The first shows for the reformed band sold out within hours of going on sale.
